Norton hall was built in 1815 by Samuel Shore. In 1850 it became the property of Charles Cammell. Later, it was owned for a few years by Mr W. F. Goodliffe, then purchased in 1905 by Mr B. Firth. In 1916, Mr Firth allowed the Hall to be used by Royal Flying Corps Officers. Later the Hall became an annexe to Jessop Hospital for Women and private clinic, Beechwood. The Cammell family had enlarged the Hall, adding the large oak- panelled room with a bay window and also the colonnade, used as an orangery.
